Alaskan Oatmeal Stout review

  • The Alaskan Stout from Alaskan Brewing Company in Juneau, Alaska pours out an opaque, jet black in color with a one finger coffee colored head that dissipates quite quickly. On the nose aromas of coffee, caramel, roast grains, licorice and chocolate. In the mouth you first taste the the coffee and bittersweet chocolte with some creaminess that becomes cleaner and slightly astingent with caramel, licorice, dark fruit and spice flavors. Full bodied. Good carbonation. Decent lacing. Creamy mouthfeel initially that becomes quite clean towards the finish. Chocolate and coffee on the finish which is somewhat drying. An excellent stout well worth buying again and again.

    12 ounce bottle, 5.70% ABV
